⋆ ABOUT ME ⋆
Hi, I'm Alana!
My fascination with nature began when I took my first steps to cuddle the chickens at a petting zoo. Introduced to local animals and plants by my grandparents, my interest quickly grew to include all sorts of creatures, both real and mythical. This passion led me to picture books, fairytales, naturemagazines, and eventually illustration.
My artwork explores a variety of subjects, from mythical beings to the diverse flora and fauna of Europe and beyond. I draw inspiration from beautifully framed mythological scenes found in Minoan frescoes, illuminated manuscripts, and Art Nouveau illustrations. While much of my work is digital, I also enjoy the unique results of engraving and printing techniques like pyrography and linocut.
Through my illustrations, I hope to inspire a love for nature and its significance across cultures, encouraging viewers to appreciate local biodiversity and folklore. I'm currently developing concepts for illustrated non-fiction books that make these themes accessible and engaging for younger audiences.
